Christians and Muslims Do Not Worship the Same God

Christians and Muslims Do Not Worship the Same God image
Proof from the Bible and the Koran that Christians and Muslims do not worship the same God.

During his presidency, George W. Bush stated publicly that he thought that Christians and Muslims worship the same God.  Whether he really believed that or whether he just compromised under media pressure and said it to appease the Muslims is really immaterial.  The fact is that many professing Christians believe that Christians and Muslims worship the same God.  They affirm that Allah, the god of Islam, is God the Father of the Bible.  They say that the Muslims do not believe that Jesus is God, but they do believe in God the Father, the God of Abraham.  Not only is this belief false and blasphemous, it also facilitates the move toward a one-world ecumenical religion.

The only true God is the eternal God Who created all things, the Trinity consisting of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, three persons, yet one God: “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” (1Jo 5:7)  This is the God that has revealed Himself in the Bible.  His name is Jehovah: “And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.” (Exo 6:3)  The true God has many names, but not one of them is Allah.  It has been claimed by many that Allah was the Arabian moon god that Mohammed decided to make the god of his false religion of Islam.  Whether or not that be the case, as this essay will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, Allah is not the God of the Bible, the true and only God.

The Father, the Word (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Ghost are all three equally God, yet three distinct persons (1Jo 5:7).  The Bible plainly states that Jesus Christ, the Word, is God who created the entire universe: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  2) The same was in the beginning with God. 3) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made… 14) and the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (Joh 1:1-3,14)  There are plenty of other verses that likewise state that Jesus is God; for example: (1Ti 3:16; Col 1:15-17; Col 2:9; Rom 9:5; and 1Jo 5:20).

Jesus is the Son of God in His human nature.  Mary was told by the angel that the baby to whom she would give birth would be called the Son of God: “And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” (Luk 1:35)  God the Father confirmed this fact when he announced from heaven right after Jesus’ baptism: “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Mat 3:17)

These three facts, 1) that our God is a trinity, 2) that Jesus Christ is the eternal creator God, and 3) that Jesus is the Son of God, have been shown to prove that Allah, the god of Islam, is not the God of the Bible, in whom true Christians worship and believe.  If God is a trinity, and Allah is not a trinity, then Allah cannot be God.  If Jesus Christ is God, and Allah is not Jesus Christ, then Allah cannot be God.  If God has a Son, Jesus Christ, and Allah does not have a son, then Allah cannot be God.  The Koran itself states that Allah is not a trinity, that Jesus was only a prophet, and that Allah has no son.

The Koran vehemently denies the Trinity in the only two places that it is mentioned.  In Sura 5:73 it states, “Indeed those who say: ‘Allah is the third of the Trinity’ became unbelievers.  There is but One God.  If they do not desist in what they say, a painful punishment will afflict those of them that disbelieve.”  Not only does the Koran say that Allah is not part of the Trinity, but it says that those who say it will be afflicted with a painful punishment.  In Sura 4:171 the Koran denounces all three points of truth that have just been proven out of the pages of the Holy Bible: the Trinity, the deity of Jesus Christ, and the Sonship of Jesus Christ.  “People of the Book, do not exaggerate your religion.  Do not say about Allah except truth.  Indeed, the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, is only a Messenger (and Prophet) of Allah, and His Word (Be) which He gave to Mary, and a (created) spirit by Him.  So believe in Allah and His Messengers and do not say ‘Trinity’.  Refrain, it is better for you.  Allah is only One God.  Exaltations to Him that he should have a son!  To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and in the earth, it is sufficient that Allah is the Guardian.” (Sura 4:171)  The Koran once again degrades the God of the Bible by saying that He, Jesus Christ, was only a messenger, just as were the other messengers that went before him: “The Messiah, the son of Mary, was not except a Messenger, other Messengers had gone before him.” (Sura 5:75)  Jesus Christ is the eternal creator God of this universe, but the Muslims believe that He is only a messenger and obviously not their God.  Therefore, as will be further proven, the Muslims do not believe in the same God as do Christians.

As was touched on in the previous paragraph, the Koran most adamantly derides the fact that Jesus is the Son of God in at least four more places.  One of the major tenets of the Muslim faith is that their god Allah does not have a son.  How can Allah be the same as God the Father when the Koran itself states many times that Allah has no son?  Allah has around 100 names and never once in the Koran is he referred to as a Father.  Listen to the Koran talk about its sonless god: “He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth.  How can He have a son when He had no female companion?  He created all things and has knowledge of all things.  That is Allah, your Lord.  There is no god except He, the Creator of all things.” (Sura 6:101-102)  Not only does the Koran say that Allah does not have a son, but it says that Allah will fight the perverted Christians who would say that he does.  “The Jews say that Ezra is the son of Allah, while the Christians (who follow Paul) say the Messiah is the Son of Allah.  Such are their assertions, by which they imitate those who disbelieved before.  Allah fights them!  How perverted are they!” (Sura 9:30)  And again the Koran makes it clear that Allah has no son: “Such was (Prophet) Jesus, the son of Mary.  A saying of truth, concerning what they doubt.  It is not for Allah to take a son!  Exaltations to Him!  When He decrees a thing He only says: ‘Be” and it is.” (Sura 19:34-35)  Not only does it invite the wrath of Almighty God to say that He and a false god are the same being, it also makes Allah (supposing that he is real) tear up the heavens, split the earth, and cause the mountains to crash down because people ascribe a son to him.  “Surely, you have brought a monstrous thing!  Thereby the heavens are nearly torn and the earth split asunder, and mountains fall crashing down because they have ascribed a son to the Merciful.  It is not for the Merciful to take a son!” (Sura 19:89-92)  It seems Allah’s name, Merciful, is a bit of an irony, given the afore cited verse.

Having used the Muslims’ own book, the Koran, to prove that Allah is not part of the Trinity, is not Jesus Christ (the God of the Bible), and does not have a son, one can see that the Muslims themselves do not believe that they worship the God of the Bible and of the Christian.  Since the Koran is just another book written by Satan and his Muslim followers are deceived by him, their own testimony that Allah is not the God of the Christians does not necessarily prove anything.  But what the Holy Bible says will prove it without a doubt.

The Bible emphatically declares that one cannot know God without knowing and believing in Jesus Christ.  Jesus and the Father are one, just as Jesus stated in Joh 10:30: “I and my Father are one.”  Jesus also reiterated that claim inJohn 14:9 and John 17:11.  How can God the Father be the God of Islam when Muslims do not believe that their god is one with Jesus Christ?  It is impossible for a man to believe in God the Father if he doesn’t believe that Jesus is the Christ as revealed in the Bible.  The apostle John made it very clear that if a man does not believe that Jesus is the Christ, then he is antichrist and he does not have the Father or the Son: “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23) Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.” (1Jo 2:22-23)  This text is especially important in light of the fact that the Christ was to be Immanuel, which is “God with us.” (Mat 1:23)  The Muslims deny that Jesus is the Son of God; therefore according the Word of God, they have not the Father.

If a person hates Jesus, that person also hates the Father, just as Jesus said: “He that hateth me hateth my Father also.” (Joh 15:23)  No matter how much lip service the Muslims may give to Jesus Christ, the fact is they hate Him.  Jesus said, “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.” (Joh 15:18)  It is no secret that true Muslims hate Christians; therefore, by the word of Jesus, if they hate the followers of Christ, they hate Him; and therefore, according to John 15:23 they hate the Father also.  The truth is that if the Muslims believed in God the Father, they would love Jesus.  The Pharisees also claimed that they believed in God the Father in John 8:41, but Jesus showed that not to be the case when He said, “If God were your Father, ye would love me…” (Joh 8:42)

One cannot know the Father without knowing the true Jesus: “Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.” (Joh 8:19)  If a person would know the Father, he must have had Him revealed to him by Jesus Christ.  Jesus put it this way in Matthew 11:27, “All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.”  As Jesus plainly put it, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (Joh 14:6)

By the testimony of God’s Word, it is clear that if a person does not believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, God manifest in the flesh, then that person has not, nor believes in nor worships, the Father.  Muslims can claim that Allah is the God of Abraham or the God of the Old Testament, but both their own Koran and the Bible prove otherwise.  They do not worship God the Father, the God of heaven and earth; they rather despise Him: “He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.” (Luk 10:16)

Faith is a Work

Faith is something that a man does and thus is a work by definition. Since eternal salvation is “not of works,” it is therefore not conditioned on faith.
