Pastor Wagner preached an extemporaneous sermon on Luke 1:1-5 in which he covered the veracity and reliability of the gospel records, the ability to know truth with certainty, and the date of the birth of Jesus Christ (August/September, not December 25th).
The article mentioned in the sermon about the courses of the priests can be found at: http://www.oldschoolbaptist.org/when-was-jesus-born.html.
I’ve been studying the birth and death dates of Jesus for a while now. It’s a bit overwhelming because of all the speculation, investigating, etc. You mentioned in your sermon about a good website that had information about the courses and how they rotated them. Could you post that? I’d love to see it. Also, if you would, if you know of any good websites that have the astronomical information (Rev. 12:1) regarding the woman with the moon at her feet and anything that might fit with the Star of Bethlehem. I enjoyed the sermon. My son and I recently started reading Luke.
Kim – the article I mentioned about the courses can be found at: http://www.oldschoolbaptist.org/when-was-jesus-born.html. I think I remember hearing that a book called “The Witness of the Stars” by E.W. Bullinger may have the astronomical info you are looking for. You can find it on Amazon here: https://amzn.to/41OQjec . There are several of the books with similar titles on that topic, so I’m not sure which one I remember hearing about, so you may want to do some searching on Amazon. I hope that helps.
