The Hatred of God (Part 2) – God Hates Sin AND Sinners

1. God hates wicked people.
2. God hates a proud look (Pro 6:16-17) and proud people (Pro 16:5).
3. God hates a lying tongue (Pro 6:16-17; Pro 12:22) and liars (Pro 6:16,19).
4. God hates hands that shed innocent blood (Pro 6:16-17) and bloody men (Psa 5:6).
5. Bloody – 6. Addicted to bloodshed, blood-thirsty, cruel; tainted with crimes of blood, blood-guilty. 1611 Bible Ps. v. 6 The Lord will abhorre the bloodie and deceitfull man.
6. God hates an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations (Pro 6:16,18) and the thoughts of the wicked (Pro 15:26).
7. God hates feet that be swift in running to mischief (Pro 6:16,18).
8. God hates people who sow discord among brethren (Pro 6:16,19).
9. God hates dishonesty and dishonest people (Deu 25:13-16).
10. God hates cross-dressers (Deu 22:5).
11. God hates sodomy (Lev 18:22; Lev 20:13), and sodomites, in that they are vile sinners (Psa 5:5).
12. God hates froward people (Pro 3:32; Pro 11:20).
13. Froward – 1. Disposed to go counter to what is demanded or what is reasonable; perverse, difficult to deal with, hard to please; refractory, ungovernable; also, in a wider sense, bad, evilly-disposed, ‘naughty‘. (The opposite of toward.)
14. God hates the way (road, path) of the wicked (Pro 15:9).
15. God hates people who are covetous (Psa 10:3).
16. God hates men who fall into the mouth of strange women (Pro 22:14).
17. God hates people who justify the wicked and condemn the just (Pro 17:15).
18. God hates what is highly esteemed among men (Luk 16:15).

1. God hates false religion and false worship.
2. False religion is far more abhorrent to God than no religion.
3. God hates the gods of other religions (2Ki 23:13).
4. God hates idols (Deu 29:17).
5. God hates the acts of worship of other religions (Deu 20:18).
6. God hates the sacrifice of the wicked (Pro 15:8; Pro 21:27 c/w 1Co 10:20).
7. God hates murderers of children, users of divination, observers of times, enchanters, witches, charmers, consulters of familiar spirits, wizards, and necromancers (Deu 18:9-12).
8. God hated the nation that was cast out of Canaan because of their sinful ways such as worshipping Molech, cursing parents, committing adultery, incest, sodomy, and bestiality (Lev 20:23 c/w Lev 20:1-21).

III. God hates His own people at times.

1. God will hate and severely punish his people if they will not keep His commandments (Lev 26:30 c/w Lev 26:14-30).
2. God hated his own people who served other gods (Deu 32:16-20) and idols (Psa 78:55-59; Psa 106:32-40).
3. God hated his own house, his heritage, because they dealt treacherously with the man of God that He sent them (Jer 12:6-8).

1. God can even hate the acts and ordinances His own religion.
2. God hates false doctrine that creeps into His church (Rev 2:15).
3. God hates the prayers of people who turn away from hearing His word (Pro 28:9).
4. God will hate the very religion that He ordained and commanded His people to worship Him by if they are living sinfully while performing it (Amo 5:21-27; Isa 1:9-20).

1. Most of these examples were taken from the Old Testament, but remember those things were written for our admonition (1Co 10:11-12), and God’s nature and character doesn’t change (Mal 3:6; Heb 13:8).

1. While the Bible speaks much about the hatred of God, it also speaks much of the love of God toward His elect (Eph 2:4-10; Tit 3:3-6; 1Jo 3:16; 1Jo 4:9-11), and for this we should rejoice.
