Should the US Bomb Syria?
- Before going to war the cost should always be counted. What is war with Syria going to cost us? What is it going to accomplish? Will it end when we lob in a few cruise missiles? Are we prepared for a full scale WWIII? Why in the world would we risk that?
- “Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?” (Luk 14:31)
- War should always be made with good advice.
- “Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.” (Pro 20:18)
- “For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.” (Pro 24:6)
- We should not be quick to fight, lest we end up with egg on our faces again.
- “Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.” (Pro 25:8)
- We should not be bombing and murdering people who have done us no harm.
- “Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.” (Pro 3:30)
- We should stay out of other people’s wars and problems.
- “He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.” (Pro 26:17)
- “It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.” (Pro 20:3)
- “But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.” (1Pe 4:15)
- We don’t even know who used the chemical weapons in Syria, therefore we should not be making a hasty decision to go to war without knowledge.
- “Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.” (Pro 19:2)
- Our government have proven themselves to be liars in the past (WMDs in Iraq); why would we believe them this time? Is there anything new under the sun?
- “If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.” (Pro 29:12)
- “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” (Ecc 1:9)
- It is wicked to lie in order to murder people and to enrich one’s self.
- “The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.” (Pro 21:6) – Is that what’s going on?
- “In thee are men that carry tales to shed blood: and in thee they eat upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they commit lewdness.” (Eze 22:9) – Is this what’s going on?
- Have our leaders changed their crooked, lying nature?
- “That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.” (Ecc 1:15)
- “Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.” (Jer 13:23)
- We should learn from history.
- “That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.” (Ecc 3:15)
- It’s not just Obama; he is just following in the footsteps of his predecessor.
- “For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.” (Pro 28:2)
- Some stupid people never learn, no matter how many times they repeat the same mistakes and are punished severely for it. Let’s not be some of them.
- “Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.” (Pro 27:22)
- Thank God for alternative media. Spread the word!
- “The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.” (Ecc 9:17)
- “Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.” (Ecc 9:18)
