The Spirit Behind the Charismatic Movement

According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew unto him marvellous things. (Mic 7:15)

This prophecy is set in the days of the Messiah.

Mic 7:18  Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.

Mic 7:19  He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

The marvellous things are signs and wonders.

Psa 78:12  Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

Psa 78:13  He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.

Psa 78:14  In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.

Psa 78:15  He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.

Psa 78:16  He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.

Psa 78:43  How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan:

The signs and wonders would be showed unto him (the Messiah).

They would be done according to (Agreeing, corresponding to; matching.) the days when Israel came out of Egypt.

Israel spent 40 years in the wilderness which were accompanied by signs and wonders starting with the plagues in Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, the manna, and the water out of the rock.

Once Israel made it to the promised land after 40 years, the miracles stopped.

Jesus began His ministry when he was 30 years old (Luk 3:23) which would have been in approximately 30AD.

The miracles began at the beginning of his ministry when He turned water in to wine at the marriage feast in Cana.

Joh 2:11  This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

This means according to the prophecy in Micah 7:15 that the miracles would last until approximately 70AD.

This would make sense because the signs and wonders were to convince the unbelieving Jews which required a sign.

Joh 4:48  Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

1Co 1:22  For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

The signs and wonders were also for the purpose of confirming the word of God spoken by the apostles.

Mar 16:20  And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Heb 2:3  How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

Heb 2:4  God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

Once the New Testament was complete and the Jerusalem and the Jews were destroyed in 70AD, there was no need for signs and wonders anymore and they ceased according to Micah’s prophecy.

Who is behind the signs and wonders of the Charismatic movement today?

2Th 2:9  Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

2Co 11:13  For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

2Co 11:14  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

2Co 11:15  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
