When God Doesn't Make Sense
This study derives its name and a lot of its content from James Dobson’s excellent book, When God Doesn’t Make Sense.
What Does a Christian Do When His Suffering Makes No Sense?
This study will help to answer this question. The following is covered in the sermons below:
- There are times in life when things happen to us that we cannot understand
- God is sovereign
- Life isn’t fair
- Things that happen oftentimes don’t make sense
- God’s timing is often too slow for us
- God doesn’t always tell us why He does what He does and allows what He allows
- God allows affliction and suffering in our lives to try our faith.
- Sometimes our troubles are due to our own sin and foolishness
- Feeling forsaken by God
- God doesn’t always answer the prayers of even the godly.
- God’s love is shown to us by Christ dying for our sins, not by our circumstances.
- Trust God’s promises, not your feelings
- Two choices: acceptance or despair
- Expect suffering, and accept it when it comes
- God views death differently than most of us do
- Answering the “why?”
